Vancouver Canucks Alumni Scholarships

Players that participate in the Pat Quinn Classic compete for more than a trophy. Players in the U15 and U17 Elite Divisions are also eligible to apply for Vancouver Canucks Alumni Association Scholarships. Five $1,000 scholarships are available in 2023.

The Vancouver Canucks Alumni are a foundational partner in the Pat Quinn Classic. Both the tournament and the scholarships recognize Pat Quinn’s passion for creating leaders on and off the ice, and his unwavering commitment to give back to the community.

Two scholarships are sponsored by the Vancouver Canucks Alumni under the names of Pat Quinn and Cliff Ronning – both Honoured Members of BC Hockey Hall of Fame. The third scholarship is under the name of Kirk McLean. Kirk is an Honoured Member of the BC Hockey Hall of Fame and a member of the Vancouver Canucks Ring of Honour. This scholarship is sponsored by Gary Pooni, of Brook Pooni Associates, and a good friend of McLean and the Vancouver Canucks Alumni.

In 2022, a fourth scholarship was added, under the name of Gino Odjick, a fan favourite Canuck, who passed away in January 2023. In 2023, a fifth scholarship under the name of Harold Snepsts, an Honoured Member of the BC Sports Hall of Fame, and key player in the Cancucks run to the Stanley Cup finals in the 81/82 season.

The selection committee which includes a representative of the Quinn Family and Cliff Ronning review the applications and select the recipients.
