Abbotsford and Seattle teams win gold at the 2025 Pat Quinn Classic U15 Elite Invitational

Burnaby, B.C. – It was an all-Canadian game in the Flight 1 final at the 2025 Pat Quinn Classic U15 Elite Invitational as Abbotsford’s Yale Hockey Academy (Yale U15 Prep Lions) skated to a 4-1 victory against the Burnaby Winter Club (BWC U15 Prep).  Yale was undefeated in the tournament (5-0).

American teams faced off in the Flight 2 final with the Seattle Junior Kraken U14 AAA scoring a 5-2 win over the Texas Tigers U15 AAA of Dallas.

“We want to win any competition that we are in for sure,” said Brock Weitl, head coach of the Seattle Junior Kraken. “This was a big moment, because haven’t had a ton of success this season, so when we play a tough team it’s nice for us to get the apple at the end.” This is the second time for the Seattle team in the U15 Elite Invitational. Weitl has high praise for this tournament. “It’s put together really well, the refereeing has been great, along with the support from the staff.”

“I’m feeling amazing,” said Seattle forward Nick Chung right after the win. “We had to push it and give it our all.” Seattle ended the four-day tournament with a 4-1 record.

“It’s exciting to see the number of teams that are coming for this tournament,” said Kalli Quinn, daughter of Pat Quinn. “It shows that this is a premier event that they want to be a part of. When you play teams from other areas, you see where you are in relation to your peers. I think this tournament is a great opportunity for the kids.”  Quinn added the elite invitational provides a chance for a higher-calibre of play. “It’s important to give everyone an experience with teams that are at the same level.”
